CHINA

I missed 2D class on 9 November 2012 because i went to china with my family. I know that i will lose our my marks for this class because it's very important according to ms Liza. I went some part of China such as Hang zhou , su zhou , shanghai , wu zhen and etc. The place i really like is wu zhen because it's really nice and the environment there is really fresh. It's cold when i went China until I keep on sleeping when I travel. Lol. Here's the cat i take from wuzhen city. It's nothing special about this cat but the interesting part is it knows how to pose. Lol. I know right , a cat who posing like a model. I feel it's so cute when it posing. After I done taking picture of it , it comes to me. Awwwwww, it so cute !!!!! by the way , it's very super duper fat , Lol, no lie . it's more fatter compare to malaysia's cat. Lastly , can you see it's fur ? do it looks like a tiger to you ? hehe.

Moodboard

First, I don't know how to make a moodboard although ms liza have show us some examples during the lecture. I screw up my 1st moodboard's presentation because i didn't speak very well when presenting and i also didn't do well for the painting too. Sorry for not uploading the 1st mood board's picture because i accidentally deleted from my camera. The picture above is the 2nd moodboard. Ms Liza gave us a topic and she will be one of our client to see whether she likes it or not.The topic she gave me is " candy wonderland cafe". After i know my presentation for the 1st moodboard i did is not really well done. I started to ask my friends for more opinion to see whether they prefer colorful cafe or just use some colors only. Most of my friends said simple is better because colorful cafe make them not really comfortable. So, i started with color of blue because i love blue especially sky blue. I done a lot of research and here's my moodboard . The topic she gave is really easy but when it comes to do it, it is harder than i though. I scare i will do the same mistake again for the 2nd moodboard and our of the topic. Well, luckily she said my moodboard is better than the 1st one. I will try my best for the next assignments :) .

Logos and monograms

This is our assignment , logos and monograms. Ms Lisa wants us to design our own monograms with our names. At first, we sketches 10 different type and style of monograms. After that we need to show ms Lisa and where should we can improve more. The next friday, we already told that we need to testprinting for our monograms. Im seriously very confuse and don't really understand about this assignment. I'm overslept that day and missed one class of 2DD. So, i don't really know what does my cousemates have done that day. Last friday, we need to do the same thing like the previous week my course mates have done but this time we need to print our monograms in our own item. We can bring anything we like include bags , clothes, jeans, cap , jacket and others. I forgot to bring my items and i went back my hostel to take my item to class. I choose my jacket to print out my own monogram. From the beginning, i quite confuse cause i really don't know what to do and how to do. Thank god ms Lisa helps me out. Here's the process of printing my own monogram on my jacket. 

                  Draw my monogram on a piece of A4 size paper with a transparent paper on it.

                 I use acrylic to paint it on because i don't have fabric paint. Before i start painting, i use my left over paper to put behind the jacket so that the color won't stick to the back of the jacket.

Assignment 3 - the process

Since we already choose our theme for our awesome poster. Here's the process of what we did :)

First , we sketched before we start draw out on our mounting board. We showed ms lisa our sketches and also told our story about the character to her. After that, we meet up on saturday and started doing our work.

Carmen and i came the earliest to E3.15 where we decided to do our work. While waiting for others, Carmen and i started our discussion. This is the 2 sketches that we choose. We don't want to draw out all the details for our character. So, we either draw the side view or the back of the character. Let people know that how mysterious is this character was.

After finish drawing on the mounting board, we start discuss what color should we put on. Here's the color that we test before painting on the board. We do it for 7 hours and finally we are done painting. However, we don't really like it because we draw the character just like a girl. We tried to do something to make the character looks more like a guy. We keep on thinking and we still don't have the idea how to improve our poster. In the end, we meet up another day to continue to do our poster. The next meeting is last week, Thursday. Finally, we know how to improve our character by painting more muscle for his hand  and also his shoulder. We keep on adding some colors and new ideas for our poster. We used steampunk for our poster too. Actually before we adding more ideas in our poster, the gears is a moon at the first place but we think it's too simple and not attractive. So, we add gears on it. Here's the steampunk explanation: 

STEAMPUNK    

             Steampunk is a subgenre of specutive fiction, usually set in an anachronistic Victorian or quasi-Victorian alternate hiftory setting. It could be described by the slogan" What the past would look like if the future had happened sooner." It includes fiction with science fiction , fantasy or horror themes.THe main types of steampunk are medieval, Victorian, Western, industrial/modern. Medieval steampunk is a speculative fiction set during the Middle Ages. Victorian steampunk is a modern Science Fiction work (post-1930s) that is set in the early parts of the industrial revolution, whereas Western steampunk is a science fiction set in the American Old West. Industrial/Modern steampunk is meant by a science fiction taking place in the late industrial age, early modern age.

          Steampunk design emphasizes a balance between the form and function. Like the Arts and Crafts Movement, this blurs the line between tool and decoration. Various modern utilitarian objects have been modified by enthusiasts into a pseudo-Victorian mechanical "steampunk" style. Example objects include computer keyboards and electric guitars. The goal of such redesigns is to employ appropriate materials (such as polished brass, iron, wood, and leather) with design elements and craftsmanship consistent with the Victorian era, rejecting the aesthetic of industrial design.

        The examples for steampunk movie are Wild Wild West ,Final Fantasy 7, Van Helsing, The Time Machine, Hellboy and Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow. Besides, many of the visualizations of steampunk have their origins with, among others, Walt Disney's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, including the design of the story 's submarine the Nautilus, its interiors , and the crew's underwater gear; and George Pals' 1960 film, The Time Machine, with the design of the time machine itself. This theme is also carried over to Disney's theme parks in the design of The Mysterious Island section of Tokyo DisneySea theme park.

       The artist group Kinetic Steam Works brought a working steam engine to the Burning Man festival in 2006 and 2007. The group's founding member, Sean Orlando, created a Steampunk Tree House (in association with a group of people who would later form the Five Ton Crane Arts Group) that has been displayed at a number of festivals.The Steampunk Tree House is now permanently installed at the Dogfish Head Brewery in Milton, Delaware.

        In May–June 2008, multimedia artist and sculptor Paul St George exhibited outdoor interactive video installations linking London and Brooklyn, New York, in a Victorian era-styled telectroscope.Utilizing this device, New York promoter Evelyn Kriete organized a transatlantic wave between steampunk enthusiasts from both cities, briefly prior to White Mischief's Around the World in 80 Days steampunk-themed event.

 Lastly, here's our final result for our poster. We add on some words before the day of presentation.

Assignment 3 - color research for group's poster

After discussing with my group members what theme do we want to do. We decided to choose action and scary movie for our poster. It's not those action movie like superman that save people from evil.We all know that superman doesn't kill evil to save people. He put them in jail so that they don't do something bad again. Superman gives them a chance to be a good person and hope they don't harm anyone from his city. We create a superhero that kills people that is rich and selfish. He do save the poor with stole all the money from the rich people that he has killed. The color that i research is either blue or brown because we want to make the poster looks spooky. First choices is blue, black, silver and white. The color can make the spooky effect and people will feel scary when they see the color of the poster. However, I feel that this type of color combination is too common in every poster like in the cinema. Lastly, i researched the color brown, silver, gold , white and black. It also gives the effect of the night time and i think that people will focus on the guy besides the background. 

Assignment 2 - expanded square

This is my 2nd expanded square. I feel that the 1st one is not really expanded because i just draw it out and cut it with my blade. So, i decided to do again and here we are. My expanded square with dog and cat. I choose dogs and cats because dogs hate cats a lot . Why do dogs hate cats ? Dogs chase cats because they are natural predators. That is, before their domestication took place about ten thousand years ago, canines were acting upon survival instincts to chase and catch smaller creatures to eat, The survival instincts are also known as the"prey drive."While prey drive can be modifies by training, the natural instinct that makes dogs chase cats is still triggered by movement.So, this is the reason why dogs sees cats, they will chase and bark them. For people like us, do we act as a dog to chase or hate someone ?Dogs are natural predators, For some reason, human will hate people naturally as well. I do experience before. I don't know who is the person is, but i don't know why i will hate the person. Some is my friend's friends. I don't know them but some how i can understand how is the person is and every time i said it out. My friend always though that i know their friends but actually no. I just naturally hate one person without any reason. I can know them through pictures and the way they talk. Everytime that i dislike one person , they are actually too materialistic , realistic and people that just want to have a rich girlfriend/boyfriend. 

Assignment 2 - expanding the SQUARE

Okay , this is my creation: expanding the square. During the class, when ms Lisa give us this assignment. I was shocked. Not because that I'm complaining that a lot of assignments to do. It just that ms Lisa just gave us 1 hour to finish our square and need to present it after we had done. I'm a person that cannot think a lot of things. My brain will stuck there and cannot think of any idea what am I going to do. However, my brain keep thinking of CHRISTMAS! I love christmas a lot and I don't know why? Maybe christmas is not as boring as New year. When i present, i really don't know how to express my feelings and why i cut an angel and forest. After i finish my presentation, i finally understand why i cut angel and forest. For me, angel is like our god. They always protect us and never abandon us. I love nature, so, i cut 2 different kinds of trees there. I cut like this because there are not such things that all the trees are the same and it apply in the same roll except for human that plant their own. well, i have done my blog :) So sorry for my grammar mistakes, i will keep it up until my grammar not to be this worst.

Assignment 1 - MYSELF , SELF PORTRAIT

 My rubbish for the portrait . I didn't use all the rubbish that i pick up from my trash bin to design my self portrait.

This is my creation. I have use based on art movement that is pop art and cubism.Pop art is the movement of art when artist began to create art with the subject of things that are the iconic in nature such as famous people , advertising , and movie. I used this movement of art to create my own self portrait . The color of pop art is really colorful and makes me feel really happy because it use different color to create one art. First , i'm a really emotional person. I cannot control myself to be emo , happy , sad or angry. It just comes so sudden and there's no reason why am i like this. So the self portrait that using the art movement of pop art represented my outer look . I'm a very happy , quite and mature thinking person in the outside. Sometimes , I play like a crazy monkey that my friends though that I'm a "weirdo". I look fine and nothing to worry about anything. However , that's half of my true self. The art movement of second self portrait is cubism. Cubism plays an important role of in the development of modern art . Therefore the art work of the famous artist , Picasso and Braque are very unique and special. I'm using this art movement because the unique of the art represented my inner look , that means my 100% true self and i don't really hide myself from it. Actually, Cubism is not only black and white , brown and black and others. There are also have a lots of colors in one art. However , i use gold , silver , white and black for my self portrait. SELF PORTRAIT RESEARCH

I have research based on art movement and I choose cubism and pop art for designing my self portrait because i feel that this 2 art movement represent myself more. I'm a emotional person . I can be happy or sad based on my mood. So, I'm not very good in controlling my emotional. Here are some art that inspire me to design my self portrait . This kind of art is called pop art .
